The Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC)
Brand Identity Redesign
The Brand Identity
This project was a brand identity redesign for The Burlington Performing Arts Centre. It is an organization that offers live performing arts, educational programs, as well as being a rental facility in Burlington. After doing research, I found that one of the things that the organization values is the community aspect of the services that they offer. In addition, one of the main things that distinguishes the organization from its competitors such as online entertainment services is the in-person live performance experience, and what differentiates it from other performing arts centres is its specific location in Burlington.
The building is more than a performing arts centre, it is a place for people to enjoy these live performances and events together as a community. So, having the logo illustrate the building would show all of these aspects in a visual way. The logo uses the acronym of the organization's name to make it scalable when used without the supporting type for smaller applications, and includes three shapes that illustrate the top of the building from a certain angle. In addition, the colour used is a similar colour that would be seen in the main theatre of the centre, which allows the logo to represent both the exterior and interior of the building at the same time.
Brand Identity Applications
The brand identity also uses three main shapes throughout its applications that expand on the logo that represents the building. These shapes are inspired by the angular shapes used in the logo. Each shape has a purpose and specific instructions on how it can be applied in the design standards manual document. The same applies for the colours, typefaces, and the logo.
This helps ensure consistency throughout all applications, making it easy for new and existing customers to identify or recognize the logo and organization. The brand identity application is demonstrated on the business communications above, as well as the marketing materials and wayfinding applications below.
This was only a school project, and is in no way affiliated with The Burlington Performing Arts Centre.
